Martin Oei – Beethoven Fantasia Sonata

Nieuwenhuizen has made well-considered decisions to make the Fantasia Sonata sketch playable. For example, Van Beethoven has almost completed the first part, but Nieuwenhuizen has had to fill in the phrasing and dynamics himself. He did this by comparing sonatas 13, 14 and 15 with the Fantasia Sonata. The second part is less elaborated, especially the left hand is missing here and there. Fortunately, the composer had written down directions for the left hand. The third movement was the biggest challenge, but here too Cees Nieuwenhuizen constructed it by means of comparison with other sonatas. It is the premiere of this reconstruction.
